Come and have the experience of a lifetime that you will never forget. Learning to paint with internationally recognised painter Úrsula Romero in her eclectic artist's house in one of the most beautiful valleys of Granada, in Southern Spain. This weekend course allows you to taste a bit of everything from Andalucía. From the local wines on our wine tasting evening in the vineyards of our Local Bodega, to private dinning by fairylights in the secluded olive groves. and supper on the terraces of the Albaicín with views of the Alhambra Palace. We organise everything, so you can relax.
The painting course is suitable for novices and masters, to those who have never picked up a brush, to anyone who has previous experience of using watercolour paints, but who seek to build on their pre-existing skills. Over our three day weekend course, guests will get to choose to learn more about how to paint our beautiful flowers, fresh fruits, leaves or seeds. We personally feel it's good to pick one subject and to hone in on it over the three days, but this is not fixed. You can leave with several pieces started. You will leave with a new found sense of direction with your painting and creativity, as Úrsula spends a lot of time empowering her students and talks about everything in terms of the art world and how to fit painting into your busy lives.
You will learn more about how to use different paper types, brushes and paints. During the week, Úrsula will show you how to paint black backgrounds in watercolour, how to light subjects and how to mix natural greens and greys. You'll be left to develop your own work under Úrsula’s supervision over the course and will be guided through the technique of burnishing once finished. This course is suitable for all levels, but if you have something you particularly want to focus on, let us know beforehand and Úrsula will tailor the lesson accordingly so that you leave feeling satisfied and happy.

Úrsula Romero, is a botanical artist and painter. Úrsula trained in botany before committing herself fully to painting so that she would understand the structures of plants more comprehensively. Equipped with this scientific knowledge, Úrsula has been exploring new approaches to her artwork to push the capacity for botanical art to bring greater awareness of plants and our place in the plant kingdom. For the past four years, ever since her expedition to Tasmania, Úrsula has been living in semi-isolation, concentrating on her practice and questioning what the role of painting is in a more commonly automated world. She has been engaged in creating metaphysical studies of her life experience and from 2020, started to adopt a zen lifestyle. In 2022 she decided to build a school to build a community and help those who were in need. Through her work, Úrsula inspires people to think beyond their experience, enriching our current perceptions of botanical illustration, its applications and how it sits within the larger scope of the visual arts. She hopes to start a degree in Psychology at the University of Granada next year so that she can serve her students, followers and clients better as a teacher, mentor and consultant.
